Digitalisation grants

Kit Digital: first whether you qualify, then whether it pays

Digitalisation vouchers awarded by call, with deadlines that open and close. We check whether you are in scope before you lose an afternoon to paperwork.

Kit Digital is a digitalisation voucher programme funded by European funds and run by Red.es, awarded through calls with their own deadlines, headcount segments and amounts. In Catalonia it coexists with the retail digitalisation calls run by the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda.

A Kit Digital voucher isn’t money paid to you. It is a credit you spend with an accredited digitalisation agent, who invoices the programme on your behalf and is paid against milestones rather than up front.

Each call defines its segment — by headcount — its maximum amount, its application window, and the solution categories it covers: web presence, e-commerce, customer management, cybersecurity and a few more.

Almost every category comes with a twelve-month maintenance commitment. That is fine when the solution was the one you needed, and it is a tether when it wasn’t — which is the part almost nobody explains before you sign.

Who it applies to

SMEs and sole traders meeting the current call’s requirements: up to date on obligations, under the aid ceiling, and inside the size segment. In Catalonia it is worth also looking at the CCAM calls, which sometimes suit a small shop better.

The real risk

There is no fine for not applying: there is only money left unused. The real risk runs the other way — taking a voucher for a service you don’t need and being tied into twelve months of maintenance you didn’t want.

What we do

  • Check first whether a call is open and whether your size and situation fit
  • Tell you which part of your project the voucher covers and which part you pay anyway
  • If you don’t qualify or it doesn’t pay, say so and carry on with the normal quote
  • If you do apply, structure the project by milestones so the voucher can be evidenced

What it means in your trade

  • Neighbourhood retail and services

The best fit of the lot: web presence and e-commerce are two of the programme’s categories, and Catalonia additionally runs retail digitalisation calls that sometimes cover more.

  • Bars and restaurants

The web presence category covers the menu and the site; booking and ordering usually fall outside or only partly inside, depending on the call. Worth checking, but don’t assume the voucher pays for the booking engine.

  • Trades and workshops

Web presence and customer management are the two that usually fit. If most of your project is service pages and a quote form, a good deal of it can qualify.

  • Salons and clinics

Online booking sometimes falls under customer management and sometimes doesn’t, depending on how the call defines it. Exactly the sort of detail to check beforehand rather than after.

  • Tourism and nautical

A booking engine rarely fits cleanly into one category. It usually works out better to claim for the site and the web presence and quote the booking separately than to force the fit.

  • Firms and practices

Web presence and cybersecurity fit a professional practice best. Document management and e-signature you probably already have, and won’t swap for a voucher.

Do I get the website free with Kit Digital?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, depending on your segment and the call. Typically the voucher covers part of the project and the rest is paid normally. Anyone telling you “it’s free” without having looked at your case is selling you the solution that fits the voucher, not the one you need.

Are you an accredited digitalisation agent?

If we aren’t at the time you ask, we say so in the first reply and still tell you whether you qualify. We would rather lose that job than push you towards a worse solution because it fits our accreditation.

What is this twelve-month commitment?

Most categories require keeping the solution for a year, with its maintenance. That is reasonable when the solution was the right one. The problem appears when someone sells you an online shop you didn’t need: you spend twelve months paying to maintain it.

What if the call is closed?

Then there are two roads: wait for the next one if your project can wait, or do it now without counting on the voucher. What we don’t recommend is pausing a project that costs you money every month to wait for a grant with no announced opening date.

Shall we check whether you qualify?

Tell us how many of you there are and what you need. We’ll tell you whether a call is open, whether you fit, and what it would cover — and if it isn’t worth it, that too.
